Dorant House was completed in 1980 with funds provided under the will of the late Lionel Annesley Dorant, a citizen of St Albans, to provide accommodation for people of limited means and of good character who reside, or have resided, in the City and District of St Albans, aged 60 and over.
There is a resident warden but all residents are expected to look after themselves, which includes the provision of their own meals and the care of their accommodation. There is a weekly contribution for either flats or studios. For information regarding the charges please apply direct to the Administrator. The Trustees reserve the right to revise these contributions as and when necessary.
The charges cover:
- Management service provided by the Warden
- Cleaning, lighting and heating of communal areas
- Provision of Residents Lounge
- Laundry Room
- Hot water and central heating
- Internal and external decoration work and all repairs
- Maintenance to the building and grounds
- Free residents parking
- Each resident is responsible for all charges for electricity used in the flat, private telephones/internet, Council Tax and contents insurance.
